Protecting Paradise: Join the Candidates for Conservation Workshop!

Montserrat, [9, October 2024] – Fish ‘N Fins Inc. is thrilled to announce the "Candidates for Conservation" workshop, an engaging event designed to unite prospective political candidates and community members in crucial discussions about protecting Montserrat's marine ecosystems, with a special focus on the Montserrat Turtle Action Plan.

As marine ecosystems face increasing threats, this workshop is an essential platform to explore how effective legislation can enhance conservation efforts. The workshop will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including:

- Aldean Williams, who will set the stage with opening remarks about balancing development and environmental sustainability.

- Jack Wiggins, a PhD Researcher from the University of Exeter, presents key scientific findings related to marine conservation and turtle protection.

- Amdeep Sanghera, the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Officer, sharing examples of successful community-led initiatives that have influenced conservation legislation.

- Dr. Nicola Weber, a Senior lecturer in Marine Ecology and Conservation, and the biological lead of the DPLUS106 Montserrat Marine Turtle Action Plan  (2022-2023) explaining the Montserrat Turtle Action Plan and its key recommendations.

- Veta Wade, Founder of Fish ‘N Fins, highlighting the organization’s successes and the importance of community collaboration in conservation.

An open Q&A session will allow attendees to engage directly with the speakers, fostering an interactive environment for discussion.
